Default Brakes squeeking?

well my brakes are squeeking when i press them but when i took a look at all 4 calipers all seem well.no sign of wear on both the rotors or the pads(on both sides).so i wanna **** what this problem could be.it seems like the brake dust protectors are touching the rotors some how but how can that be.thanx in advance.

Try going out on a highway and doing several accelerate-brake-accelerate -cycles from high speeds... there's a good chance nothing is wrong, your pads have just glazed slightly (city driving doesn't really stress them enough)

Another option is that you've got a set of aggressive aftermarket pads in there, in which case you'll get the squeal all the time when driving around

Take out the pads (note which go where for consistancy) and rub Copper grease on the backs of each pad before replacing them. Problem solved (and never failed me yet on 10's of cars).

Gary.

make sure you don't put the copper grease on the same side of the pad that touches the rotors!! (I've known someone who did this!)

Also, performance pads will squeal a bit. Quiet pads will not perform as good.
