Default Questions about S2

You know how the older 944's have actual bumpers with little shocks, so if you bump into something it's no big deal? What happens if you bump into something with a 944 S2?

Also, what's this light in the middle of the dashboard for? It looks like an exclamation point.

That is the central warning light. Usually under normal circumstances it is only lit when the parking brake is engaged, otherwise it may light under emergency situations or if a malfunction occurs.

Yep, pretty much everything will trigger it... like worn out brake pads, too low oil level in the engine etc.. there should probably be some other warning light burning at the same time telling exactly what's going on.

No idea how the bumper works, sorry... better not hit anything I guess

Oh yeah, in this other picture you can see another light over on the left side, but I can't read it. Maybe it's just the seatbelt light or something, huh?

Both the n/a / turbo and S2 actually have bumpers in the front, except the turbo/s2 have a bumper cover, which basically goes right on top of the bumper, and if it contacts anything, it has to get painted or replaced...

more expensive, but it looks way better!

Hey don't the European S2/turbo front covers have little rubber pads on them? How come the US version doesn't have that?

No, the euro turbo/s2 bumpers are the same. (Except for the side markers.)

Actually to get super technical, worn out brake pads will not trigger it (at least not on my car). However, low brake fluid or having your parking brake on will.

Sounds like your answer buddy. Parking brake. Probably just not fully disengaged.

Tabor, I believe my car has three different sensors:

1: Parking Brake <- when button below e-brake is not pressed
2: Brake Fluid <- sensor on cap in resorvoir
3: Brake PAD <- when sensor wire on caliper is worn away
4: ABS (Not installed in my car)

FWIW, the brake pad warning doesn't trigger the central warning light in my car either.
