Angry my damn gauges

ok so i first got white face gauges. put the gauges on, everything like that, and everything worked fine except the speedo, it was sticky and wouldnt move very well. then i got the 9xauto kit, installed it, am happy that i can actually see my gauges now, and pulled the needle up on my speedo just a hair and now it works fine. unfortunately, now more gauges are messed up. when i turn the car on, the fuel gauge goes way up beyond 4/4, the water temp doesnt even move, the boost gauge doesnt even move, and the parking brake light stays on, but very dim, but its definitely still on. i know the parking brake is all the way down, and i know everything worked fine yesterday before i installed the kit (though i realize the installation of the kit wouldnt affect the performance of the gauges. what could i possibly do to remedy this? (all the rest of the lights, speedometer, odometer, tripodometer, voltage, tachometer, and oil pressure still work fine)

Could your grounds be messed up in the process? Did you clean all the contacts on the plugs and are they plugged in correctly?

I know when I had some gauge issues, I cleaned the heck out of the grounds and contacts while I was in there and it did make a nice "responsive" improvement in my instruments.

Take some fine sand paper or steel wool or something to the the ribbon connections and clean them up and make sure they are seated properly.

Is it possible that you mixed the ribbon cables? If I remember correctly they are identical. Also, could one not be plugged?

take out the cables and reinstall. they should be labelled. i did this on the 85.5 and it worked like a charm. the tach sticks when i start it up but oh well, did that since i bought it. i had the guages out once and didnt put the stuff back in... the master warning light got brighter as the car warmed up, the temp guage didnt work, and the fuel guage was messed up. so try taking the stuff out and reinstalling.

good luck
