Probably not even in production any longer, but I was wondering if anyone knows what the OEM tire (Brand) was that came on the 1986 951. I'm also guessing that there were several brands used? Any information would be greatly appriciated.

But I think they came with variety of tires. I'm pretty sure I remember seeing some of them in the showrooms with Goodyears.

I know BMWs in the mid 80s came randomly with either Goodyear or Continentals (maybe 1 or two others, too)

Pirelli probably would have used the P600 or P700, whichever it was back then.

Pirelli may still use the name, but that tread design would be long gone.

"Vintage" tires are usually still available, but its limited to realy old designs and weird sizes needed for restorations. Or for vintage racing.

my 85.5 came with Pirellis, they didn't last long (soft tread) and I replaced them with Michelin for improved mileage

Thanks guys! Gonna do a little homework and dig out the original sales papers and window sticker. See if it's there. I'm pretty sure it was Pirelli too. Guessing my chances of finding the exact tire will be nill. But worth a shot. I know the second set to go on it were Conti's and they still make them.
