Racing Seats and Steering wheel
Looking to do my first interior upgrade for My 944 S2 I was thinking either a new driver seat or a steering wheel What brands should I look into and will a new steering wheel get rid of the stiffness of the stock steering? Also how much of a difference will these additions make? i'm going to start to take classes and track the 944 in summer i want to start getting it ready

I've had both momo and sparco steering wheels and I've liked both. You will lose your steering wheel airbag so FYI... I have used recaro and momo racing seats but I think it's really important to find a shop that you can sit in them to try them out. Position, rake, bolster fittment etc are all very personal things. Find out if there are any local PCA racers that will let you sit in theirs as an example?

Also, most aftermarket steering wheels (especially racing ones) are smaller diameter. That makes it even harder to turn. I'd have that checked out first to make sure there are not larger issues. As an aside I disconnected (and removed) the power steering pump on my racecar and it's crazy hard at parking lot speeds but perfect on the track.

I have a sport seat that I will ship anywhere. I may ship for free at this price for rennlisters.

A race seat with a 6 point harness adds not only to safety, but let's you drive better by holding you in place. Otherwise, you are expending a lot of effort to hold yourself in place during braking and cornering.
Most sport seats do not have provision for the sub belt, without which a harness should not be used. The only sport seat I know of that does is the cobra Daytona.

I have the Corbeau A4 seats and have been very happy with them. They are a sport seat with a reclining back, but have the sub-belt slot in the bottom cushion for six-point harnesses and large and well positioned shoulder pass through slots. The seats bottoms are "shaved" 1", and at 5'-10" this was necessary for me to fit.

My understanding is:
Harnesses only work with a proper seat with proper routing holes.
Harnesses only work with proper mounts for the shoulder belts (harness bar)
Fixed back seat only works with a full cage
I've *read* the stock seats are designed to collapse in the event of a rollover.
Remember with an aftermarket wheel you have to properly disengage the airbag (including prior to removing the actual wheel). This is illegal in some areas.
Regardless, airbags are usually a bad idea on the track. Ask an instructor.
I might instead invest in racing brake pads, fluid, etc.
Take care,

Recaro Speed seats are a nice compromise for a street/track car. Can be ordered with a hole in the seat for a 5/6 point harness.

Thanks everyone for the ideas I should've mentioned my budget in the first place... I would like to stay under 400 for both the seat and the steering wheel

I think you'll have to go with a Corbeau seat then if you're buying new. They're very popular with AutoXers. That being said I'm not sure if you can get a good seat and steering wheel in that range. I would get the seat first.
