Yesterday I took the axles off my car. I was curious how loud the tranny was so I put the car in 5th and cranked it and crawled under and listened. The tranny is really loud. I realize there is no load since it is not turning the wheels. Have any of you done this and is this normal???? Hopefully it is but I couldn't believe the noise.

 

weirdly, when the car is on the ground it is much quieter...but either way yes, the trans is a noisy one.
