My post is mostly unrelated BUT... I couldn't help but notice your location says AL/GA border.... Figured I'd go ahead and invite you on out to this event in Atlanta if you do happen to pick up a 944 before March 8th!

Thanks again for all of the input!

I have been doing some more reading and think that I will probably end up doing more autocross for the first few years than track days like DE. I am thinking probably 75% autocross, 25% HPDE.

So if I want to focus on autocross first does that make one model more favorable than another? Does the early 944's lighter weight beat the extra torque delivery of the 944S2? Is the 944S a sweet spot for cone dodging?

drift a 944, thanks for the invite I'll check it out

8V n/a is the way to go for autocross. The S and turbo models are in a vicious class. I would think that an early car for light weight or an '89 2.7L are the best choices.

So it has been a while and in the while I was able to acquire an answer to my question....

I bought a 1989 944 S2 in black with M220 LSD and Koni Yellows

Thanks Rennlist for the advice and assistance, this car has been awesome fun so far and I am looking for towards racing it and enjoying it more!
