I appreciate all the input. My car has 146k on it and the lugs seem to have been there a long time. I wonder if anyone makes covers for the steel ones. I would hate to have to buy both sets. Oh and before I forget Tweeks sells the black oem style alluminum nuts for 59.99 for a set of 20, which is the best price I have found.

Sorry Sid, the "up yours" part seemed like your were mad or something. You know how hard it is to tell what folks are on about in exchanges like this. As sill as the little emoticons are I try to use them so folk can tell I am not intentionally being a dick.

I removed the wheel locks on my car, and bought 4 OEM lug nuts to replace them. The new nuts are black, but the nuts on the rest of the lugs are more silver than black. Very annoying that they don't match!!
Are the cheap steel lug nuts UGLY on our alloy rims? Anyone have a shot of their wheels w/steel lug nuts?

Don't ask me. My ones that weren't cracked were fine (20 yrs). if looking a bit ugly. But the one that was cracked eventually neccesitated removing the rear disk to replace the lug and I still have f'd up wheels as a result.
After having gone through it I'll never put alloys on again.
Hence it earning a position in my ever growing sig.

The easiest way to remove seized alloy nuts is to use a 3/4" hole saw.
This will remove the nut and not damage the stud thread or the wheel. When installing the new nuts use anti-seize on the cone of the nut and on the stud threads. Don't use an air gun for removing or installing and torque to 130NM.
