Default Looking to purchase a belt tensioning tool - preferences

The following seem to be the most widely used 944 tensioning tools and I'm curious what type of feedback people might have on the various choices and it's value/performance based on price.

Porsche's 9201 tool.
Arnnworx's 920x tool.
The Kriket tool.
Universal tensioning tool.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

Altho I've been using an older style, the arnnworx tool has yet to let me down on 8 belt changes. Use it every time.

Arnnworx tool for the price and accuracy.

Kriket tool is only good for the balance belt. You will never get 2 identical readings on the cam belt. I own one.

Universal tensioning tool (sold at Harbor Freight among others) is too big and will not fit to tension the cam belt.

Porsche 9201 if you have spare $$$s

I use my thumb on the waterpump pulley as a guide for over 20 years. Retension after 2 or 3 hundred miles once the new belt teeth settle into the gear cogs.

See Clarks Garage for more info.

Arnnworx tool is great, but I personally had trouble with the older version (which measures using deflection). Maybe there's some trick to it, but I followed the instructions to a T and had trouble getting consistent readings on the timing belt. I ended up tensioning in 3X the spec at one point... oops. FWIW

Arnnworx is what I use. Porsche tool is expensive and simply not needed. Never used the kricket, and that thing that ECS sells just shows they don't know their *** from their elbow.

Fwiw, I don't even use the tool anymore, after you do a few it can been done with feel. It's really not as bad as the internet makes it.

Don't fool around and do it right! I have a factory tension guage for sale at: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...ol-9201-a.html

I've held many 944 get togethers at my place and you could hear the cars drive up my driveway with out of spec belt tension, and there were many!
