The Elise comes close but they had to get a waiver and agree to limit production and it still wieghs 1750 give or take. So this thing is pure mental ************, better to save it for your true love.
moving away from turbo engines?! say it ain't so!

Yeah, ok it seems far out there, but then again...if they DO manage it, it will be rockin'. Again, how much does a 914 weigh? Porsche should have been on this by now. The Boxster is great, but a true bare-bones roadster is overdue in America.

Damn. That's my car. Hope they build it. If it came down to that car and my 951, I'd drop the 951 like a hot rock. That car is what Porsche used to build.

I've never been much of a fan of VW, but that is primarily because I am not a fan of cars with FWD and too much weight. I don't care who builds it, I just want a 1500 lb mid engine 150+ hp car. I know the Lotus is coming, but $40,000 & dealer mark up doesn't make much sense. Toyota came close with the MR-S, but it has a bit too much weight and too little horsepower.

as mentioned by Tony.... can i say 914 ressurection??

and the weights of 914 is 946 kg / 2086 lbs for the 914/4 and 996 kg / 2196 lbs for 914/6 (probably a little up and down with engine volume)

Keep in mind that that 914 does not meet current crash and passive safety standards let alone emissions. The Elise is the closest thing to a modern day 914 being constructed. I love the elise, I just don't want to divest of 39 large to have one.

As far as Audi moving away from turbo cars, there was quite a bit of conversation on this topic recently. The new A4 and A8 are non turbo'd (except S4). Expect the next gen TT and A6 to also be NA. Too many issues with warranty I suspect.

They can't afford to buy them (audi/turbo) after the 8 bajillion coil packs they've had to buy.

How did they not see that coming.
