How much does the 914 weigh? If they can actually pull this off, for the price alone they really might have a good selling point. Look at all the Mr-2s out there. What a joke!

Toss the Touareg/Cayenne V8 in it and we'll talk.

If they build it. they will come... Hopefully by that time I'll be out of school and gainfully employed, maybe running my own engineering firm. If I can afford it, I will buy it in a second. Always been a fan of stuff from Ingolstadt, Stuttgart, and Wolfsburg.

I'd buy it in a second.
Looks like an Opel Speedster.
Manual everything .. that's awesome.
It couldn't be touched by most things on the road - and it's a vw!

The real problem would be getting a sports w/the V8 to actually cost under $25k!!!

VW is comong out with a new golf/jetta platform in the next year, so I doubt there will be much of the older technology. i.e. I doubt they'd use the old 2 liter engine.

IMHO, the 2L is dead... I would LOVE to see the 1.8t in that baby! The aftermarket would be on it in no time...

i have a feeling that even if the 1.8t doesn't come with it stock, that will be a popular drop in engine. man, one of those with a modded 1.8t would be one of the fastest cars in the world

Well the 1.8t is going to be dead soon too as Audi/VW moves away from turbo engines. But the bigger point is that there is no way that car can be built and sold in the us for 25k. I do not think there will ever be a 1500 lb car sold new in the US that meets all of the US standards. The Elise comes close but they had to get a waiver and agree to limit production and it still wieghs 1750 give or take. So this thing is pure mental ************, better to save it for your true love.
