Default Quick question about FPR install

I am installing my Fuel Pressure Regulator on my new to me motor and am curious if there is any grommet or anything that goes between the FPR and the fuel rail. In the PET it doesn’t really show that side of the FPR and there is no extra part between the FPR and the rail. But it seems to me that there would not be a good enough seal between the rail and FPR if there were not a grommet of some kind. So if someone could take a look at the top of their motor and let me know I would be most grateful.

Here’s a pic:

Thanks,
John

There should be a little o ring on the FPR so that it seats into the fuel rail.

Dang it, that going to be the one thing that stops me from starting my car today.

Does anyone have a picture of what the little bugger looks like?

thanks,
John

It looks like an O ring, just a simple O ring. What you really need is to find out what size it is so you can run to the auto parts store and pick one up.

Actually, why don't you jsut take the FPR with you and see if they sell them loose and see what fits?

Believe it or not, you might be able to get the part from your local friendly Tractor Supply Company, they have all kinds of loose O-rings for sale.

Does anyone know the inner and outer diameters of the o-ring? That would be really awesome if I could find one today. Thanks for the help so far fellas.

If memory serves me correctly, it is the same size as the o-rings for the injectors.

Make sure you leak test by running the pump before you run the car. Jump 30 and 87b on the DME relay port. You don't want any leaks with the motor running.

Check it every time you run the car for the 1st few times. The heat cycles can expand the metal and cause a leak if the o-ring is slightly smaller than OEM.

Perry is correct. I looked at the spare FPR I have in the basement after I posted my last comment. Not only does it use the same sized O ring, it also used one of the little plastic spacer rings. If you have an extra injector seal kit laying around, just use those parts out of it for your FPR.

Cool,
Thanks Perry and Manning.

Does anyone in the Atlanta area have a Fuel Injector Reseal Kit or an old fuel injector I can pull the o-ring and spacer off of? I'll pay for the part. This is the only thing stopping me from starting my car for the first time tonight so I'm really Jones'n for it.

Thanks,
John

Well I got the injector reseal kit, but now I'm not sure how this bugger goes on there. There are 3 o-rings and two pieces of plastic. Any one have a pulled FPR that can offer a discription?

Here’s some pics (sorry for their size I just want the detail to be visible):

Thanks,
John

John,

In that top picture, see that nipple (for lack of a better term) pointing right at the camera, the one perpendicular to the mounting tabs? It's pointing straight up in the second picture, has a little lip at the end of it, see it? Good. Now slip the gray plastic spacer ring over that nipple. Now slip one of the O rings down over the nipple so it sits up against the spacer (not on top of it, but next to it at the end of the nipple). That's it, that's all the parts you need out of the seal kit, just two parts.

So the order will be: FPR, gray plastic spacer, O ring. Got it?

Now you just need to wet the O ring with some ATF or silicon grease and slip it into place and bolt it down.

Manning,
Cool I think I have it. I am going to go home and put it on like this:

someone, please let me know if this is wrong.

Thanks,
John

ps Does anyone have any idea where this wire goes (the one on the right):

basically I want to know where the little wire with the small o-connector he is holding in the first pic goes. I'm pretty sure the one with the big o-connector goes to the bellhousing stud. The other one is too small and will not fit though.

The question is at the very end of this tread.

That is exactly right. Good luck.

Sorry, I can't help with the electrical.
