Automatic vs. Manual CV Axles
What's the difference? I know they have different part numbers etc., but what's actually the difference? I have an '88 auto and my right rear CV is clicking pretty bad so I want to try to swap in a used manual CV so I can still drive her while I'm working on the original one. It may just need to be repacked as the noise is intermittent right now, but if I can swap in a manual CV, I'll do that just to get by for right now. Thanks guys.

Manual trans cars use equal length CV axles, on the automatic they are different lengths; neither side is the same length as a manual trans car - you must buy side specific automatic transmission CV axles.

That should work, I am pretty sure that the NA manual trans car used the 33 spline axle the same as the NA automatic trans.
I believe the turbo car axles have 25 spline axles.
