Default Did you know...?

Did you know that you can put on a new timing belt without
  • Breaking the plastic cover
  • Removing the crank pulley
  • Harming the new belt

anybody else figure it out?

What trick?? That is how I have always done my belts.

Put engine to TDC
Drop the 2 accessory belts
Take off the cap and dist housing
Remove the 13 10mm bolts that hold the 2 front covers on
Remove balance belt
Adjust tensioner to 3/4 slack
Remove belt from cam gear
Remove tensioner
Slide belt out and around crank pully
Install the belt starting on the upper right side of the pully, leaving it at a 45 degree angle to the timing belt pully. Push the belt up and into the pully going counter clockwise.

The rest is a normal install. I can change them in no more than 2 hours.

you make it sound so easy

I've been told you need to lock flywheel/remove puller or break the case. I thought i was 'the man'.

With the wider cam belt on the S2, I was not able to remove the belt without removing the crank pulley.

Cheers,
