Default Brake squeal thoughts

I do believe the PO put in Pagid Blue pads - I think. The pad backing is blue at least.

Thing is when I first start driving the car there is no squeal, however after about 5 min I start getting squeal with light brake pedal pressure but not with hard pedal pressure. Is this just the pads or is something else going on?

Could be hawk blues....I wouldn't recommend those for street use.

I have different because racecar pads (Carbotech XP10s front/XP8s rear) on the track ho/daily driver, but usually my pads squeal more when I first get going--when they're cold. It is worse with lighter pressure than with heavy pressure, though, so that part makes sense. It's just the lack of squeal when you start driving doesn't.

Is this for the '86 951? (update your signature line pls)

Check the thickness of the front rotors. The rotors should be stamped with MIN thickness.

Replace or machine if within tolerance.

On the top of the page is a dark gray bar under the post heading.
In the gray bar you will see "User CP" click
Then you should see Signature----Put the car info there.

I do not think the signature line on RL is restricted only to paid members-try it.

Ok I'm blind or it just isn't there. I checked under my profile and I didn't see it there either.

my pagid blues on my GTS big blacks are extremely hard and show about 1/3rd wear at 90 k miles !!

and they've been screeching for 90 k miles.

warm them slightly from a few minutes of driving.... and soft braking sets them off. hard braking and no screech.

I expect i'll be replacing the pads with softer pads I picked up at O'reily Auto Parts for pennies.

and maybe the rotors at that time. or maybe after the softer pads are done...

someday.

Go to the auto parts store and get some of that pink stuff for quieting brakes. Put a little on the back of each pad and re-install them after it tacks up. You'll be happy with the results.

I don't get it.. how that stuff works? You put it on back of the brake pads but it stops squealing with occurs when front of the pad touches the disk.. This gets me confused lol

because the squeal is an ultra-sonic vibration.

fun part is the dogs will stop running away from you when you pull into the driveway.
