I like the Lincoln Logs approach too. Thanks for the idea. I usually have multiple stands under the car since I think I have at least 6 of them. But, I'm been trying to find a use for some old deck underpinning. I hate to just pitch perfectly good 4x6's. Think I just found a good use.

Doesn't matter what you put under the car if the ground you are on isn't solid, so always check that too! This floor collapsed before I got the jack stands under it.

Esco jack stands. Flat top too, so way safer than the kind you find all over.

Do the esco stands fit under the front chassis rails without damaging the undertray? I have not yet had the car on stands but from looking underneath while it was on ramps, I didn't see how I can cleanly get anything to support it by the rails at the front. It seemed like there was a plastic guard which partially covers the rail. Should this be removed first?

I don't know what car you have - but here's another idea.

I used them on my 944s - but you do need to check to make sure your factory lift points aren't damaged. Assuming good lift points the pin goes into the hole in the lift point - so the car can't slide off the pad. The pad locks over the base so the pad can't slide off the base. Once the car is on these stands, the only way to get the car off is to lift it.

If there are any questionable areas, just put a hockey puck on top of the esco stand. They are the perfect size for sitting on lift points. About a buck each.
