Default Piston difference

Hey guys I was going threw my collection of NA parts and noticed I have 2 different groups of pistons... Can anyone tell me if this is something special or normal... One set is from a 1984 944 the other is from a 86 944..... One set says mahle on the inside skirt. Is this factory? And the dishing for the combustion is different

The one on the left is not from an 84 or 86, it's maybe a 10.9 from a later year. If you sell them to someone make sure the tolerance group you give them matches their engine, it's stamped on the top. Both Mayle & KS supplied pistons for our engine, KS also did the block. Here are the other pistons in the range:

Thanks for the info, I'd love to sell them but they aren't in the best shape
