Unhappy Sunroof arms out of line

Just as another kick in the nuts when my transmission broke and I was closing the car up, I tried to close the sunroof and the one arm came down but not the other. now they are mis-aligned. If I peel off the inside panel can I get access to the arms and correct this?

Yes you can, you might as well order new sunroof gears first. Most likely some of the teeth have broken off if one of the arms have slipped.

it has happened to me about two or three times. And like Magown suggested up there it was the sunroof gears every time. It's definitely an annoyance, but not TOO much of a pain to fix, just have to pay extra attention to the arms being aligned perfectly when you replace the gears. If they are off by just a tooth or two you can definitely tell when the sunroof goes all the way down and in a worst case scenario cause a small leak. I went ahead and replaced the seal as well.

The gears are about $8 each I think.

judd: I developed the same problem on my sunroof a couple of weeks ago.

I guess misery loves company.

Here's a write up I did a while ago if it will help any of you.

Sorry for the goofy text layout.
