7 months is not that long to store your car, here is what i would do, the link above was dead so here is a short story,
1. First I would clean and wax the car, get any grime off of it, vacuum the inside etc.
2. Get a couple of cans or boxes of a desicant drying agent (one source I know of is Brownells http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=1152 and put them in the interior of the car. This will help keep the interior dry.
3. change the oil, and dress the hoses, etc in the engine bay
4. Make sure the car is dry before putting the cover on, moisture is your enemy.
5. I don't think you need to do anyghing special to the engine, but you may want to pull the plugs and spray oil in the cylinders, I am sceptical of this having any benefit.
6. FIll the gas tank, and put in some stabil.
7. Disconnect the battery and remove.
8. check tire pressures, if you are worried about flat spots, put car on jack stands. That should do it.
God speed.

Since inside the garage... drop some mothballs under the car and some rat poison to keep the mice/rats away...
Last thing you want is to come back and find there are wires chewed up by mice...
Good luck over there and keep safe.

I would not do the moth *****, the car will reek when you get back, and they are of dubious value against mice and rats. Hell they don't work too well on moths! But some poison or traps might be a good idea depending on where you are.

As Honkity Hank had said, make sure that the gas tank is full. Since the vapors will rust out your yank and not the actual gas, you want as few vapors as possible. The fuel stabilizer will also help to keep the gas from turning into varnish.

How about disconnecting the battery, so you don't suck it dry, running the clock? Just an idea.
