Default Changed Throttle Cam, Now High Idle...

So the end of my throttle cam has been broken off since I bought the car (I have no clue how someone manages that). I changed it with the good one from my parts car, but the catch is the car now idles at 1500rpm. I can pull the throttle back by hand and it comes down to 800rpm, but as soon as I touch the gas pedal it just shoots back to 1500rpm. There's a little stop screw that's backed out all the way, and the throttle doesn't even come close to touching it at idle.

Do I need to adjust the gas pedal? Change the throttle return spring? Checked Clarks and it said you could adjust the idle using the idle adjustment screw just left of the throttle cam. That did nothing. Almost like it wasn't connected to anything.

Follow the throttle cable to where it goes into the firewall on engine side.Adjust there and that should take care of it.5 minute job.

Cheers

Do you have a throttle return spring? Disconnect the throttle cable from the cam and see if the throttle body and cam operate by hand as they should. Then check for kinks in the throttle cable where it goes into the rubber cable. Make sure there's no extreme angles in the cable run. Pull the cable by hand and see if there's any binding.

Took the advice and adjusted the cable at the firewall - Good as new!

I guess they cranked it right tight to compensate for the broken end on the throttle cam. I just backed it out a few turns.

Thanks for the help guys!
