The rogue DME isn't available just yet according to his previous posts.
Then what's the point? There doesn't seem to be a big shortage of oem DME's around. Not trying to be rude, I just don't understand.

The original DMEs are 24+ years old at the youngest; they are starting to die off. I've easily seen used 944 DMEs double in price over the last few years and it is only going to get worse. Racers typically carry a spare DME, because their (lack of) reliability is well known.

Gotcha. So will it be compatible with the early AFM, or will early cars have to also upgrade to late AFM or MAF? Any idea on pricing yet?

Late AFM or MAF. The new DME replacement is designed to work in either a 944 or 951. As such, it will not work with the early 944NA AFM.

Ugh. I guess you'll be taking a large sum of my money at some point then.

Late AFMs should be easy to source, if you do not want to run MAF with the new ECU.

Yeah, but they're not terribly cheap. Might as well just pop for the MAF upgrade.

Edit: Nevermind. They are cheaper than I thought. You might have to put together a nice package deal to entice me.

So am I going to be able to put a new DME on my Christmas list this year, or are we looking at 2014 for availability?

Josh,

My marketing hat on here says:

1) Advertise this to the world
2) Offer the following packages
a) DME ONLY
b) DME / MAF / CAM KEY (with or without new low-Z injectors) for NA and 951
c) DME / MAF / MAPPER (with or without new low-Z injectors) for NA and 951
3) Make it stupid simple to buy

Market share is key so pricing in year one is "break even" and the DME ONLY should carry a premium because ultimately you want them to buy the MAF.

Of course none of the above applies to Rennlisters

Yeah, what he said! I think I'll just buy a new DME!

I have a 84 N/A that runs and drives fine, but I want to chip it and do the MAF. Just makes sense to upgrade your electronics, which I agree with Josh, are probably going to start dying, due to age! Plus, I don't want to fool with anything, just plug it in and be done with it!

Thank you for the suggestions

Do you have pricing and/or availability details yet?
