I take out the roof on my car nearly every other day. I have no problems with leaks or anything either.
The retracting latches are also broken/stuck in the open position. This causes the roof to begin to raise a little if you are going over ~45mph. But I've gone about two times that and it didn't fly away on me.

Dude, don't buy an automatic! Sunroof is not a big deal.I drive with mine open the 3 inches that it opens every single time I drive. It helps the flow of the vents a lot more also. Sunroof out is also easy and cool.Once you have all the silicone or whatever it is removed, replace with new seal kit.BUT,you are not going to do that are you???????That's because you are buying a manual car!!!!!Automatic 944s are for chicks, and around here you can't even sell them for 3grand because NOBODY WANTS THEM!!!!!

Trust me on this one dude.

To make things easier, you turn the key to the first position. the radio and fans can come on but not the instrument lights. then you push the up arrow so the top is disengaged. now you are free to lift it up with your hands and slide it out. good luck!
