Default Market for an '86 944 Turbo

Looking for some feedback please: 34,000 mile car from the original owner, all services done including the major items, a true 10 out of 10 that passed its PPI without a single issue. I realize this is a rarity and thus, the value is somewhat subjective, but would appreciate some guidance as to what the top end of the current market is without letting emotion get the better of me.

Thanks all.

I think Hagarty has the most current information. They have average at $8.8k and top at $24k.

86 was the most common year so that works against you but condition is king. If it's in the condition you describe, I would think high teens/low 20s. I would think that if you spent the time, the right buyer would pay handsomely for that car.

20 minimum.

I recently paid 12k for a 68k perfect 1 owner car with full service history and all major service and then some completed for your reference.

I would also add I have red/black and that is exactly what I wanted. I like some of the other exterior colors but and not a fan at all of some of the interior colors offered. I had chances and declined some more expensive S models ( money wasn't a issue) but since I actually sit inside the car I could not fathom owning some of these colors. So it also depends on your colors/options.

No one is saying they are. Fair market based on condition, miliage and options are almost true of ANY car. I saw a CRX on BAT fetch 7500 and they aren't collectors cars either so calm down.

what fair market, where do you guys get these numbers, who are the experts here? let's ask someone who buys these cars on regular basis. Let's see what he has to say

I think that is what I was trying to do with the Hagerty tool. They deal with prices on cars daily. It shows the price trending up. Concours level cars in top condition have moved up $10k over the last 3 years and about $3k since spring. I am constantly amazed when people try to get Concours level prices for a basket case car, but that is another story.

I get your point but that's funny because buyers want lower prices.

In this region (PNW) Craigslist prices of '86 and '87 944 Turbo cars have been running from about $5K to abut $8K, in what appears in the pictures to be OK condition. Not museum quality, but typical. This has been consistent for the 15 years or so that I've kept an eye out, with a modest increase lately. I also monitor the California, Colorado, Texas, and Virginia Craigslist offerings, which have been similar.

Here is their valuation explained.

http://www.hagerty.com/valuationtools/About-our-prices

Dash,

Those prices are in line with the report. Condition 3 and 4 cars are both considered daily drivers. Current valuation on Hagerty is $5.3k to $7.6k. Their numbers seem reasonable.

I have a E30 M3 1989 with 71k miles on it. Alpine White over tan interior. Stock except for some BBS rims and EVO2 spoilers. I paid 17k for it in 2003 with 50k on it. I was offered 45k for it by Sterling BMW last week ( a dealer!) Now I have 7 cars and I only say this because I have a variety of cars to compare and contrast from...my 951 is easily 3 times the car my M3 is. I love how the M3 looks but it drives...well I will say this, my Nissan SE-R in college was far better than my M3, period.

No one can predict what will make the market surge on cars. I know the 944 was produced in greater numbers than the M3 but the hype this car gets is by people that have never driven one. When I first drove it I was underwhelmed. I have had my 951 about two months now and I was prepared to spend up to 20k for the right car. I got the right car for 12 and have put another 6k in it immediately to make it mine. I drive a Tesla to work because we offer free charging but lately I have left it to my wife to take the 951. As I have posted pictures I also have a 987S which I love and track but there is something about the 951. I have a 991tt on order and the M3 is gone to make room, not the 951.
Have faith men, this car is a keeper and market prices be damned.
