Post Fill capacity of transaxle.

Per the <a href="http://www.tech-session.com/Paragon/Tech/944_transaxle_fluid_change.htm" target="_blank">Tech Session</a>, the fill capacity of the transaxle is 2 liters, so I assume I can do the change with two bottles of <a href="http://www.smartcart.com/Paragon/cgi/display.cgi?item_num=944RedLine" target="_blank">Red Line</a>? Just don't want to get it up and not have enough.

Two bottles is perfect (2 quarts = 1.9 liters). The standard transaxles use just a bit less than the oil cooler equipped ones. Use a "finger" to check level.

Good Luck!

When I did mine I bought a trick little pump at the car parts store that screws into the bottle. Try Big Wheel/Rossi. Very neat and tidy, no mess or wastage. The only downside is my right hand now has huge, misshapen, disfiguring muscles from pumping the thing. Just ordered some RedLine so I get to do it again. Fun!

In the Marine section of WalMart, KMart, or Target are hand pumps that are associated with lower drive units on I/O boats. This little pump is cheap and has a long enough suction tube to get to the tall bottles of transaxle fluid.

I bought an extra one when I filled mine just incase. and then I used the pattented "add more untill it spills out of the tranny and runs down your arm and all over you" method of checking the fill level. I used mobil 1 75w90 GL5 and have had no problems since then other than my wheel falling off...
