Default 16v headers

What is the difference between 2.5 16v, S2 16v and 968 headers? Or is there any?

Between the S and S2 I believe there is a subtle bolt on difference. The actual diameter of the piping may be different as well since the S2 moves more air than the S.

The 968 has a whole different head. It bolts to the 944 big bore block, but it has much larger valves and moves an even larger amount of air. If the bolt pattern isn't different (it probably is, though) then I would think the tubing used is much larger.

The same thing is true of the intake manifolds. Conveniently, they are interchangeable across all 16v heads (unlike headers...) but they all are designed to flow differently.

This is why I'm curious as too the details of your 968 intake manifold. The runners are a much larger diameter than the intake openings in the head. It would create quite a step to go from one to the next. Did you have the head machined? Looks dang cool, thats for sure!!!

The S, S2 can interchange headers. It's the same bolt spacing and pattern. It looks like the 68 has a different model from Stahl, so there is enough of a difference to warrant it.

You know, I shouldn't post while drinking. My 968 engine has the S2 header bolted to it. The reason the 968 header is different is because of the funky twin tube exhaust that car uses. So unless you have the full 968 system it won't bolt up to the cat. It will still bolt to the head though.

So all of the 16v headers will bolt to any of the 16v motors. Enjoy.

Hmmm... Lindsey says their header doesn't bolt to an S car. I've never seen a header for an S AND S2 application which is why I thought what I thought. Probably does bolt up just has different proportions or something.

I coated S2 headers with ceramics, they bolt on to S head without any issues.
