Post Source for OEM caster blocks

Hi,

Does anyone have an alternate source for OEM caster blocks? The price for new ones have gone up and are now $197/each from the dealer! Even with my PCA discount, it will still cost around $350/pair. Used ones are out as they are likely not any better than what is on my car and the part has been updated many times over the years.

TIA

Bill

Sounds like you may have gotten a quote on the M030 part. The last non M030 parts I bought in 1998 were number 951-341-023-01. I paid $75 for a pair and the 951-341-431-02 eccentrics were $93 per pair. These are the 968 style with lots of metal and not much rubber.

Hi Tom,

I replaced those on my 968 back in 1998 also and paid about $100/each. I'll try the part numbers you posted - maybe they were quoting me the M030 parts.

Thanks!

Hmmm. My wrench just replaced mine with the updated parts (like Tom described, and thanks to him for alerting me they existed). He only charged me like $40 each. Don't know where he sourced them from, but I do know he gets alot of stuff from Zim's.

I just checked with Suncoast Porsche and the prices are about $50/each as Tom stated. I guess my local dealer either has a larger profit margin or looked up the wrong part.

Thanks for all your help.

I was quoted $50/piece for the 968 ones (you want the 968 ones).

Tom,

Are those two parts the only parts I need to update the new caster blocks? Or do I need to buy any nut or misc hardware?

Thanks!

You can reuse the caster bushing bolts (to the chassis). The M12 nuts on either side of the caster eccentric are "one-time-use" locking nuts. Your choice if they need replacement... I would assume most folks do not replace them, right or wrong.

If you have a good metric source nearby, they are M12x1.5 nuts (grade 8 or better). I suppose you could use nylock bolts instead.

If you want the porsche part, it should be 900.910.115.02 or N.021.131.1.

Torques for your new stuff:
- caster block bolts - 34ftlbs
- caster eccentric - 63 ftlbs.

Good Luck!
