Hi all,
I just got an Autometer air/fuel gauge, but I need help installing it. I know where the O2 sensor connects at the back of the engine, but I am no electrician.
What I see are 3 wires - one large green one, one black/green, and one brown. I don't seem to get the readings that I'm supposed to on my multimeter, but I am guessing that the brown wire is the signal. The other two are mysteries to me.
I have an autocross tomorrow and would really like to get this sorted out before that. Any help would be appreciated.
Also, tell me where to tap into the harness to hook this thing up!
Thanks,
Michael

Michael, I've never owned a turbo, but I suppose a 3-wire sensor is the same regardless. Two of the wires are, I'm pretty sure, for the heater element. Find the pair that shows measureable resistance on your meter. The other one will be the signal lead. This method ain't going to work, of course, if your heater is busted...

do a search on the archives...there is a lead going in to the ecu from the O2 sensor. Splice into this wire (with a piggy back) and you'll be all set. Using this method you won't have to run a wire to the O2 sensor or engine compartment.

I have the same problem right now, I have 2 white and one black, and the instructions say you need a high impedance 10mega ohm or higher multi meter. I am not sure what the hell that means, but you can damage the gauge or O2 sensor if you don't have that, or if you connect the violet wire to the wrong wire on the O2 sensor.
We need someone that has done it already.
I gues I'll kick back until someone replies

Thanks for the ideas, guys. I thought about splicing in near the DME, but the harness is pretty thick right about there. I'll try to trace it one more time. I know that the O2 lead goes to position 24 on the DME plug.
Anyone know where to splice in for the 12V power and the ground???
