Has anyone attempted to paint the rear spoiler on a 944?If yes what special prep or paint was needed?I would like to paint the spoiler and its trim white to match the car. Thanks in advance.

Are you talking about the rubber spoiler on the hatch? I have never heard of anyone trying that, and I think for good reason. It is so soft I would think it would be hard to get paint to hang on it for long.

I agree, too soft for paint. If it's fading a bit, I recommend Vinylex from Lexol. Found it at PEP Boys. All the concours guys swear by it. Give it a couple of applications and it WILL be black as night again.

If your hellbent on having a spoiler that matches the car check out GT Racing on the web. I'm pretty sure they have a fiberglass replacement spoiler that can be painted. If I remember correctly it was even a little longer and deeper (Modeled after the factory race car). Hope this helps

Now, funny thing happenedas an accident about a year ago on my 85S... I spilled some Eagle One Leather Care "Creme Conditioner" (you know the stuff that is applied by hand)and after cleaning it off as best I could, I noticed weeks later that the rubber absorbed the oils from the creme conditioner and left a really nice finish and remained soft to the touch. I have been applying this stuff by hand to my 85S 928 rubber trim and getting excellent long lasting results.
Just tossing in my .928 cents worth, hope it helps.
