Thumbs down 1st drive since mods - dissapointed?

I guess that I'm just expecting too much for too little($$$)! Took the car for it's maiden voyage last night after finishing up with the first wave of mods. With the new Bosch +4 Platinums, Jacobs Wires, K+N Filter, H.P. Performance Chip, throttle cam and opened up throttle body the car had a "slight" improvement in low rpm power, but was much smoother during takeoff - less hesitation. Why do I get the feeling that a second job is in order to get the "$$$ performance $$$" that I'm looking for? The car seemed more at home at higher rpms(highway speeds). I can't wait to do my intake, heads and exhaust.
Any other first mod. stories? Am I the only one who expects more forless?

if you invested that kind of money into a 951(sorry to say it) you would not be disappointed.

OK, Luke, I'm starting to "Feel the Force". lol
Can't buy a 951, covered that in a diff. topic, has something to do with the ability to live in the car!
I'm sure that I will feel much better next year after I install the supercharger and get "gobs" of low end torque, still for less money than a 951! You do have a distinct advantage over me, though, it's called a decent suspension/brake pkg. I'm planning on heading to the "All Porsche Swap Meet" in Hershey, Pa. in April. Plenty of "donor Cars" parts and accessories there. I'm planning on upgrading to 951 Mo30 suspension w/ Brembo calipers, "ATE" front rotors and "Frozen" rotors rear.

sorry,

before you buy an sc though, look around, there are alot of deals. I picked up my 86' for 8k with 62k miles. ANd in stock form she was running 5.2 seconds to 60 so it is a very solid running car.

Sounds like someone's got internal goodies or headwork that they don't know about.

possible head work I guess. The intake valves sure look clean.

when I got the car( no lrbe or anything) this beast made 1 bar of boost @ only 2900(stock exhaust), and it held the 15 to redline ( no chips, no fuel cut off )

It has been a mind boggling expirence. I know a coupe other 86' 951 owners(one of which is a mechanic freind) who've taken my car out for a spin and told me it was diffinately chipped. Then they would look at me funny when I show that it isn't.

the p.o. 2nd owner had no problem selling her for 8k though, and he kept refering to the young 1 st owner as the "rich kid".

It is very expensive to get a noticable hp gain on a N/A car. forced induction is probably going to get you there.

OK,OK, How's this?
Please give to the "Need for Speed Foundation", all donations guaranteed to go to the foundations owner/operator for personal use to reach state of Porsche Euphoria.
or, how's about:
Will work for 944 supercharger upgrade.
or,
Please give to little Joey, he only has approx. 50 years to live and would like nothing more than to finish his Porsche before then!

My first Porsche 944 Turbo had 200k on it took it to the track with just a set of chips and lindesy boost enhancer ran a 13.54 @ 109mph in it. Not bad for a 200k mile car thats only had head redone.

You're not going to see a whole lot of improvement over what the factory has done with the 8V NA cars. Don't waste your money on head work or exhaust.
If you want to go faster in a NA car go for an S or S2. Or best of all a 968.
Anyone that races 944's will tell you that faster lap times are all in the suspension.
All the other motor options give you better acceleration and not much else.

Bolt ons are fun, but if their claims were true we would be making turbo power without the turbo.
To go fast, get a 951. Period.
And a supercharger? Hmmmmm..... still not free horsepower like a 951.

The price differential between a 944NA and a 951 is less than the cost of the supercharger kit. Check out this recent thread:

OT: FIXED THE PROBLEM

You have to drive a 944 and 951 back-to-back to really understand what people mean when they say, "sell the 944 and buy a 951". And here's what you get with a 951:

It's going to cost A LOT more than the price differential between a 944 and a 951 to buy all those parts individually to upgrade your car. So... just sell the 944 and get a 951!

Justin - Had it done by a co-worker @ work. He has all the right tools....and a $50k milling machine doen't hurt! :&gt
Before you ask, this was done at a small cost to me and I had to hem and haw just to get it done. So, unfortunately, I cannot do any others, sorry.
Anyway, you turbo guys are probably correct, get a 951 and dump the 944. But that's just like asking me to get rid of my first born! Any takers?!!.....only kidding! I'm going to have to be stubborn and see what I can do to make this machine perform. I will keep everyone updated and will try not to complain too much!
Thanks for all the replies, maybe I'll meet you on the track someday! After my suspension upgrades, of course.

I've heard good things about raising the compression
