AHHHH!!friggin injectors
ok i sent them out to get cleaned, and they did a great job, sent em back to me within a couple days and all that crap. New seals and all. I had a lot of trouble puting the rail back in, the injectors were very hard to get into the holes but i BELIEVE i got them in. I started the car and the rpm were REALLY low, then i looked in the engine and i didn't tighten the fuel pressure regulator hose enough so friggin gas went everywhere... <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />
i tightened it and then it seemed fine, idled fine and all, so i drove for 2 days but when i stopped i noticed a slight gas smell, today the smell got worse when i stopped so i pulled into the garage and looked and the #4 injector was bubbling up gas, and my whole intake manifold was covered in gas....is the injector in wierd or something?or not in at all?that one seemed like it went in the easiest....
any ideas on how to properly put injectors in?

These things can be a little problematic to re-install. Most people (myself included) like to lube the o-rings with grease or engine oil before inserting the injectors. As to your problem, you could have torn one of your new seals, or mis-alligned one of the "hats" that makes it all sit together correctly.
I had one that did what you describe, and it turns out that I had broken the injector where the tip part meets the main body of the injector. If this has happened to your's, you won't be able to fix it by re-installing. It will continue to leak at a pretty good rate, and it will sort of look like the fuel is bubbling from around the bottom seal of the injector. If this is your problem, I'm sorry, but you will need to replace it. I have been told that this is very common to these bosch injectors, especially if you had to really push and twist on it to get it to allign - lots of stress and all.
-happy hunting - hope this isn't what happened to your car.

No.. it is not obvious. What you can do is get a re-seal kit for it and try again. Lube the o-rings before install. If it still leaks, it is probably the injector body, and you will need a new one.
If your car is a turbo, and it has a bad injector, let me know. I will give you one.
I would not drive too much with it leaking.. fires are not good.. trust me.

I'm getting ready to put my injectors, fuel rail, etc all back together too. So, what is the preferred lube for the o-rings? And any other special tips so that I don't break anything? TIA

Will soon be re-installing the injectors and have the same question -- am contemplating using a thin coating of hi-temp silicone based lubricant (the stuff used on brake calipers, etc.) for installation. Any positive/negative experience?

ok i went for a quick drive, came back poped the hood and nothing....so i was like maybe the seal just moved and thats what caused the leak and then popped back into place later on.....but after driving around all day, i only experienced a problem at about 11, it had trouble starting and i noticed intense fuel smell and then it was leaking when i came home.....what the hell?!!?

Sounds like the o-ring in the body failed. The movement of you working on it may have jarred it enough to be fine.
Get a replacement, and if you need that injector, let me know.

Try just using a little gas as the lube. This is recommended in a lot of service manuals and has worked on my VWs as well as my Porsches.

ok i took them out today, cleaned the openings with carb cleaner, while i plugged the hole for the injector. Then i put some oil on the seals and stuck the injectors back in and still 2 of them leak. I dont know what the hell is going on. this is incredably frustrating, are they broken?
any ideas would be helpful

You'd think Perry is trying to get rid of some injectors, huh???
Don't worry andre, I did the same thing with the hose. Oh well, think of it as a good degreasing.
As for the injectors... check, check and recheck. Hopefully it is just bad seals.
