Default Door chime won't stop.

I have a door chime that won't stop. The doors and hatch are closed and the interior light goes out. However, the door chime continues.

I recently replaced the carpet in the car, and I am having trouble with the hood release cable due to a broken housing. When this first started happening, it would stop when the clutch was fully depressed. I then discovered it would stop if I pressed on the carpet under the clutch with my foot.

I fiddled with the hood release cable and that appears to make a difference when the chime sounds. Is it possible for the hood release to cause the door chime to be constant? Is there anything else in that area under the carpet on the drivers side that would cause door chime issues?

I have already cleaned the contacts using electrical cleaner for the door switches.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks,

Michael

Yeah, it sounds like you need to pull the carpet in that area and re-check the wires and door chime switch for damage.

I have a broken elbow at the moment and can't crawl around under the dash to check the wiring. I took out the relay for the moment and will have to return to this issue at a later date.

Thanks,

Michael
