take a look......you can remove a sway bar in just a few mins and the same with a control are...you may want to look at your ball joints while you are sown there....

good luck

Andre,

Support the front of your car with jack stands. Then try to pry your spindles up from the control arms. If there is more than the smallest bit of play, you need ball joints. Also, check to see if the rubber dust guard for the a-arm is torn. If the dust guard is torn, but there is not yet play in the ball joint, there will be soon .

If there is no play in either of your ball joints, it is probably your sway bar bushings. I would replace them on general principle.

Yes! You should be looking for all of those. I had a bushing that was completly gone on my front stabilizer bar. That made it real easy to diagnose
One thing you can do if you aren't sure - is remove the entire anti-sway-bar mechanism and then try to duplicate the maneuvers that would normally cause the noise. If you still hear the noise you know it's not related to the stay-bar.

Let us know what you find.

Andre,

You may want to check the sway bar mounting brackets. This happened to me recently where one of the bracket had snapped at the very top. I had the clunking sound when I drove but an inspection of the bushes didn't show the fault.

The break was at the point where the upper bolts reside and I replaced both sides as a precaution

Cheers

ok well i will look today, i'll put the car in the garage and then see what i can find.

i am new to mechanics, my brother can help me but i really like doing this stuff myself...point is that i cant put name of part to actual part.
for example i dont know what sway bar mounting brackets are....nor do i even know what the sway bar looks like, i'm sure i'll have a better idea when i get in there...but if anyone has a picture of any of this stuff it would help a ton, a broken one would be even better

thanks guys

Andre,

A few days shouldn't hurt anything.
