I called up Paragon the other day to order some shocks and springs, but after it was all said and done I only ordered the springs. After we were figuring out the total order, it came to about 250 or so. Then he apologize because it was $114 PER KONI, not for a pair. So I had to put those back on the shelf. And the front strut inserts are pretty pricey too, although I'm sure they are very high quality.
What I'm wondering is where can I get me some rear shocks and front struts of decent quality. I do not track this car, although if time permits I may in the future but I will worry about advanced suspension then. $114 for one shock is just sick in my book. But then of course, I don't know the shock market well.
Bosch anyone?
Thanks,
Matt

How are these and the ones Paragon sells different? And I wonder why they don't have rears for an 89?
Thanks,
Matt

If you'd like a used set of rear shocks from my 1990 S2 they are yours for the asking. They have a bit less than 60K miles on them.

I have over 700.00 per corner in my 89 944S2 race car, granted I didnt pay for them (cus i work for moriss damper)
But those are motorsports dampers and not a street unit.

Matt, Try www.shockwarehouse.com or www.autozone.com to get pricing for KYB shocks. They are nowhere near the quality of the Koni shocks but they will make a difference over old stock shocks.

Matt, since this is a street car, you might as well go with KYBs. Best pricing can be had at www.shox.com. These are the parts you need:
[*]$60/pr - rear shocks[*]$80/pr - front strut inserts[*]$60/pr - used strut housings from '82-85 944NA[/list=a]So for a grand total of $200, you can get new shocks all around. You'll have to make a 2mm shim where the strut clamps to the spindle and elongate the upper hole, but that's it.
