Don't you have tobe military, family, or ex-military for USAA?

I have USAA, but niether my Porsches are by any means worth an agreed on value policy. One, being track modified and all, is not going to have the same value as a nice example of an '88 951 (I suspect lower, even though I started off with a $7500 car I doubt I could sell it for that now that I have modded it to my tastes to the tune of an additional $3000 or so). The '79 924 is just a plain jane daily driver. Even being 99% original (and getting small "restoration" projects as I go), it is still a $2500 car at best. But it is a comfy driver for me.

When I had a collectible restored military vehicle worth that special coverage that would not fit with any "blue book" valuation, (1977 M151A2) I went with a "Collector's Insurance" agreed on value policy. I think that was the company name, it is a partner with USAA, and they directly transferred me to them when I called USAA about insuring it.

Thinking about it, maybe I should insure the 951 like that, but I am very aware of the possibility of track time getting me in a no coverage situation. I'm pretty much resigned to that.

I actually went through the process with all those mentioned below with the exception of State Farm and here's the results:

Hagerty: Denied - I'm driving it more than 3500 miles/year
USAA: Denied - I'm not ex military and no family member previously had USAA
Grundy: Denied - I had more than 2 tickets in the last 5 years
Heacock: Denied - I'd not limiting my driving to just parades, fancy dinner, and ice cream socials
American Modern: Bingo - They'll insure me as long as it's home is in an unshared garage.
Classic Collectors: Denied - 5 tickets in 3 years
Nationwide: Denied - After '79 it's not a classic, you get book value only

I will call State Farm tomorrow and post the result

State Farm has no mileage limitations, or secured covered parking requirements. All they required from me was that each person of driving age in the household had a vehicle. Let us know.

I have several cars on one policy with American Collectors. They are based in New Jersey. Good service.

I have Safeco with an antique car policy. Ask me how the claim process goes in week. My garage burned down and took the car with it. I filed a claim already, but waiting on the final claim process.
