No LSD on this one , that can be found in some Audis along with oil cooler.

This is great! Might be the answer I'm looking for as well. My stock 83 box with LSD need a rebuild. This could be a good alternative.

hi, i'm curious too, because based on my familiarity of the gearbox fit, it is very close to the spare wheel well, so the bit at the very back that seems longer may be too long, but then again i'm a spectator here so chances are what i'm thinking is probably way off.
but i am curious of the final drive experience compared to the original gearbox.

good luck with the project.

notching out a bit of metal wouldn't be much of a stretch, if in fact, it were necessary.

but, in this case, it is not.

It's a weekend project , slow progress.

Looking forward to seeing how it works out. Can't wait until I have the time to tackle my 01X project.

Do you have a source for the specs of this trans?

Also, you may be able to swap the joints on the inner side of the axles.

Thanks for sharing.

Found a couple of threads that have been scouring for information as well
This group has gave me a couple of leads.
http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.ph...8039accaec4af9

Then there is this which compares the 968 6 speed with its Audi counterpart
http://elektro.cmhnet.org/~charlie/p...rs/01E/Por968/

Then there are these guys who I assume are using 924/944 drivetrains to build kit gt40s.

Also, awhile back i found this guy who had completed the swap.
I've got a pretty bad screenshot of it
