Post 944 and 951 interchangable parts

Can the A/C compressor from a 944 be used on a 951 engine?and what about the alternator, are they the same?
also i am curious weather the pressure plate and throw out bearing are different in the clutches. I know you have to use different clutches for 944 and 951 but are any of the clutch parts interchangable?

From Griffiths:
From 1985.5 onward Porsche used a smaller swash-plate multi-piston driven Nippondenso having 4 mounting ears. This same unit is used on the 924s. The clutch pulley is a 6 groove serpentine (multi-rib).
All 85.5+ alternators are also the same.

No, Tabor, they only look the same to the casual observer. The alternator in the 951 is much better and makes the car faster.

True, but if you also upgrade the 944 muffler bearing with the 951 version or even better the 951S version (I'm pretty sure they are interchangable)you'll be way ahead on performance overall.

I'd also look into silver spark plugs and a 951 head gasket. Painting the engine block with special formula VHT paint will also give you an extra 10hp or so.

The 951 needs a 951 clutch.

Good point, Mark. It also doesn't hurt to run KaleCo's engine cleaner through to lose the weight of all the sludgey bits. Use the special 951-approved formulation for that extra edge in the 1/4 mile.

I would look for or talk to someone with a PET to check about part numbers listed for the two cars, the parts these guys are talking about are special performance parts that help me gain 500+ hp. I bought the O pipe to spool the turbo up faster and found that it has no lost boost and the piston return springs.......O...MY .....GOD!!! the power!!

Tabor,
After reviewing your last statement...
From 1985.5 onward Porsche used a smaller swash-plate multi-piston driven Nippondenso having 4 mounting ears. This same unit is used on the 924s. The clutch pulley is a 6 groove serpentine (multi-rib).
Its time for you to have your implanted brain-microprocessor turned to "normal-mode." Aso while your at it you probably need to replace other bionic wear items. You are suffering from information-regurgitation-overload-us. Its a common problem with cyborgs.
