Post How about Prestone Super Flush

Ok, since I don't think there's a beer called "Prestone Super Flush" and there was a resounding "Nay" on using Cascade to clean the cooling system, I am considering flushing the cooling system with Prestone Super Flush. Basically using it as directed, flushing thoroughly with water afterwards.

The tech at the local dealership recommended just flushing the system with water, but there is a good amount of mayonnaise in the system and I have my doubts about just water getting it all out.

Has anyone used Prestone Super Flush and has positive/negative advice on it?

Thanks,

Bryan

I used it about 18 months ago. Seemed to work fine. But I didn't have oil in the coolant, just that it had never been flushed with a cleaner in its life. And I haven't taken apart the coolant passages to see if there was anything not obvious.

So, I don't seem to have a problem for what that is worth. Oh, I flushed the stuff out pretty good - ran a garden hose wide open in the system with engine running for almost a half hour and must have been quite a few hundred gallons.

I used it twice in my 1983 944. It worked just fine. Eventually I had to replace my radiator, since the flush was unable to remove all of the deposits from it. It initially helped to get the engine temps back down where they belonged.
