Perry,

I've got the instrument cluster out now, and purchased some blue colored "super white" 12v bulbs - you know, the kind that rice boys use in their blinkers and stuff for "shows"? Anyway, they slid right into my instrument cluster bulbs, but I was really hoping to use LED. My question, how did you drop the voltage from 12 to 5, for the LED? The LED lights I saw at RadioShack were 5 volts. They had resistors, but it's been a few years since my physics class, and I wouldn't want to blow anything up.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

I am using 3.6v Superwhite LED's with a 1/4 watt 1K ohm resistor. You need to regulate the voltage to each LED, so some creative soldering is needed.

I have not worked on the gauge cluster yet, so I cannot help you much on that.

Pretty much, you need to find out how large of a resistor you need to drop to 5 volts. I would say that a 1/4 watt 680 ohm should be fine, perhaps a little less would make it brighter. Last thing you want is an over volt situation.
