Post 968 Clutch Replacement

I am about to replace the clutch on my 92 968. I have decent mechanical skills, having pulled the transmission on a TR6 etc along with several other major repairs over the years.
A local Porsche mechanic will replace the 968 clutch for $350 labor. I have read about the trials and tribulations of changing a 944 clutch and don't want to get into something like that. In my younger days I would have done so. I know the 968 is suppose to be easier, but I would appreciate any comments from those that have done this job. I also do not have a 968 repair manual, I have a 944 (Haynes) so if anyone knows where I can find a step by step please let me know. Thanks

Can't help you with the step by step (I'm rusty) but you should know how lucky you are - you don't have to pull the transaxle of any wastegate pipe. You sound more than capable of doing your clutch job.

Have a good time with it!
(and remember those of us who aren't so lucky...)

Why don't 968 owners have to pull the transaxle? Just curious.

There's a removable piece upfront that lets you access the clutch without pulling the transaxle, and sliding the torque tube.

Not directly for the 968, but we have a detailed procedure for the 944/951 that may act as a guide. The biggest difference being no need to remove the Torque tube or Transaxle.

944/951 clutch replacement

Might want to head over to 968.net and pose your question there also.

Good Luck!
