Default installing a Kenwood navigation unit. speed sensor wire?

Its asking for a connection to the speed sensor wire so speed can be calculated by the GPS. Where is this wire?

Thanks

That's how they calculate speed? Why not use the gps position? Like the portable gps units... strange. I don't think there's a way to connect the speed sensor, and its 30 year old technology, would the kenwood even recognize the signal?

I guess you could splice in a wire on it and run it though the hole in the fire wall and under the dash... but that sounds like a lot of work...

the speed sensor, at least on my 944, is in the transmission and it is wired to the speedometer. Look at the schematic in your service manual. I attached the page in case you haven't downloaded the manual yet

I've had a Kenwood navigation unit installed since 2006.
My speed sensor wire isn't connected, and the unit still works wonderfully in terms of displaying accurate speed via the GPS connection.

It's an old belief that every wire needs to be connected to something.
The new proverb (in life) is that not everything needs to be connected to work properly.
