Post Where can I rent a tbelt tension tool

Hi everyone this is my first post. I have owned a early 85 944 for about 6 months. I am sure that it needs a t belt and b belt replacement. I am interested in renting the proper tension tool if it is possible. If not I will have a shop do the work since I don't want to spend 500 bucks on a tool.

Please let me know where to go!

You can do it w/o the tool, tighten them until the belt whines, then back off slowly until it doesn't anymore. THEN AFTER 2500 miles RETENSION THE SON'BITCh... =)

Try Vertex - I know they rent the tool - will cost about $50, or $75 for the flywheel lock, tool, and calibration tool. Might be more efficient to just have a shop do the final tension after you put the belts on.

best bet...if you dont trust your self...rent the tools from www.Vertex.com and then tension the belt on your own, then check it with the tool. this way, next time you do it you know.

Just a suggestion.

How about the 9201 tool club if it is still up and operational....Never tried it as I have my own 9201

By the way...I couldn't recommend Craig's instructions...too risky

Zim's also rents the tool. Don't know what the rental fee is though.
