Default Unbolting the flywheel from a mostly disassembled engine

Probably a pretty amateur mistake, but how do I do it? I've got an engine I'm disassembling to rebuild (eventually). When I started to take it apart I realized I had forgotten to bring the big triple square for the flywheel, so I just worked around that. When I came back with the triple square I realized I've got no way to hold the engine from spinning. I don't have air tools where the engine is at, and I'm not sure I like the idea of using air tools on those triple squares anyway.

Right now about the only things on the block are the balance shafts and the crank/girdle/pistons/rods. And the flywheel .

Or, since I'm not going to get to actually rebuilding it for a while and the crank should be stored standing on end (right?), can I just leave the flywheel attached and use it as a stand for the crank?

The crank bolt torque is way higher than the flywheel bolts. Can you have someone hold a wrench on the crank bolt while you loosen the flywheel bolts?

Bolt a brace across the flywheel held in place with the PP pressure plate bolts.

I took it off the crank by putting some PP bolts back on it, bracing it with a steel bar between those bolts (angled so that when I turned on the flywheel bolts the bar would act as a wedge against the ground).

Yup, 2 pressure plate bolts and a pry bar in between them to hold it like mentioned above.

Crank bot is already off, unfortunately, I just haven't wiggled the crank gear off yet.

This is the answer, thanks!

Glad I'm not the only one that's done this.
