I have read that there is a replacement for the regular part that would run the car's electric at a round 13-14v. I noticed that my guage reads 12 and just looking to see if anyone knows where to get one. thanks.

Any of your local alternator/starter shops. There are adjustable ones which will fit and come with brushes attached. Under $20. You want it set at about 14.3 to 14.4 volts on minimal load. I think Bosch also sells one that is fixed at 14.4V.
You probably have to do something about ground and positive to fuse board if you want to get system voltage on your dash meter up close to 14 volts. 13.8 is a good target.

Mine tested out at a hair under 14.0 volts when cold (70 F). This drops a little bit as the ambiant temperature goes up. Was told this is typical for a Bosch alternator as Bosch is of the "low voltage school".
That extra 0.4 V made a huge difference for me in getting the battery charged up quicker.

Andrew,
Check the actual output of your alternator before swapping regulators. Our gauges aren't always accurate due to corrosion at the connectors, calibration, etc.

You don't say which model you have but I don't have the part numbers handy anyway. In any event, the alternators are not anything special and the local alternator repair shops know them well and will have the regulators for about $10 to a little more. Don't pay over $20.
