Thanks man. Right now I'm 2 hours away in Shirley with my uncle while we wait to hear back from Sketchville Motorsports. I wish I had known about that shop before I freaked out and took it to the first place I was recommended by a friendly officer

It's in the process of being worked on so all I can do is hope right now. I hate being a newbie

if the fan doesn't run (which is a common failure) you will get exactly what happened to you - so far what you report the shop said doesn't sound unreasonable - now, what did they really say and what did they do? what did they charge you for?

Congrats and welcome. Hope everything goes well at the shop and you can start enjoying the car again.

Sausage, I'm right behind you. Picking up an 86 951 this weekend to drive home (TX to ATL).
I've wanted this car since high school, and she who must be obeyed has finally blessed the idea.

Cyclone - were you kidding about the spare DME relay?

Don't want to derail this thread - but rather than start a new one just for this question - please could anyone tell me if is this the correct DME relay?

Hey, sorry I fell off the grid. I ended not having internet access at the place I was staying and I was struggling to type from my phone.

I'm back on the road now. Covered about 600 miles today and will be covering another 1000 between now and tomorrow evening. The car is running great (knock on wood!) and the weather is perfect. This really is a love/hate relationship

Just wanted to update the thread-

I made it home Friday night and the car was bulletproof after I got her back on the road. I spent Saturday detailing/claying/waxing and checked things like coolant/oil/air pressure. Admiralkhole has some tensioning tools headed my way soon, so I'll be readjusting my belts next week hopefully.

Just glad to be home with a great car. I sleep so much better now that's she here with me and not at an unfamiliar shop hours away... time to start reading that Haynes manual!

Thanks so much to J Berk and Admiralkhole for support and enouragement

Edit: I'd also like to thank Odandurina for having some nice avatar eye candy for me to gaze at whenever I'm checking RL
