..solid motor mounts..
Absolutely shure there is no rubber?
if real solid you can expect a lot of vibrations.
The shutter I am not sure off, could be the clutch as well...

"SLIGHT" is an understatement. I have them in my race car and it vibrates ... who cares it's a race car ... I would not want them in my dailey driver however.

Jeeter
It seems like the verdict is that the mounts are rubber iso solid and looks like they are on the way out.
You may want to look here for inspection / replacement info http://www.tech-session.com/Paragon/...eplacement.htm

Take care

I might be wrong here and I CANNOT find the location of where I got this info but the Solid motor mounts are indeed rubber but they are solid rubber. The normal motor mounts are rubber on the outside and filled with a special dampening fluid on the inside. I think the OEM parts are the fluid filled and Aftermarket makes the solid. OEM might offer the solid as well. The solid will make more vibrations but I don't know if this is what you are experiencing...

No Cobbs. When people talk about solid mounts, they are indeed solid metal ... frequently a 6000 group AL, like 6061. I don't think you want them on a street car.

So that is what Jeeter may have and vibration would indeed be a problem. Kokeln sells them if you want to take a look.

Cobbs and IceShark, you are both correct.

The original Porsche 944 mounts were in fact fluid filled. These are the ones that loved to fail. Porsches updated the design and they are now solid rubber.

What koklen sells is solid metal. Much different than solid rubber.

This is an old thread I am bringing back up because I have a question on a similar topic.

I was wondering is there any problems that could come from the solid mounts do to extreme amount of vibrations? I mean I can handle vibrations but if its to the extreme of being hard to understand when you are talking because you are vibrating so bad I think I will spend the extra ($290) for the Supermounts from Lindsey Racing.

BTW. this is not for a daily driver

Solid mounts are not a good idea for a street car, regardless of how infrequently you drive it. They're great for track only cars.

Agreed. Unless you want to do a "nut and bolt" everytime you drive the car, solid mounts are a really bad idea.

If you are masochistic enough to insist on solid mounts, it would be a good idea to learn to safety wire things. There's a reason it's done on race cars, namely to guard against fasteners loosening because of vibrations.
