Default My new project :)

Hey all,

So I've got a summer project I've been working on for a couple weeks now. It's an 87 924S (non-sunroof) that I picked up about 2 weeks ago now. So far I've pulled the dash and all the under-dash wiring out, to be replaced by the harnesses from my old 924S that has sat in my barn for the last 7 years, awaiting its rebirth.

You see, long long ago, when I was 15 years old, I bought my first car. It was a 1987 Porsche 924S, guards red on black, with a bad oil pump and a crushed right rear quarter panel. This car is what got me hooked on the 944 series cars, but I was, at the time, unable to fix it because of monetary restraints and my just developing mechanical skills. I have since longed to find a very cheap 924S shell to swap the interior and other parts into (as the interior is very nice, a cracked dash is about the only problem).

Well, this non-sunroof car is the one...I'm going to do a mild restoration on it, but I'm mostly looking for a fun little DD that will get good gas mileage, and will have many of the parts from my first car (I'm a nostalgic one).

This will be a fun adventure, I hope you will join me for the ride!

nahhhh, no v8 swap for this one haha! I'm looking forward to 30-35mpg on the highway. I've got an early 944 LSD trans that might go in this car, the taller fifth should give me 35mpg or close to it! Plus I can probably get this car together for a couple hundred bucks, although I will end up spending money on additional things along the way that I WANT to do, but the necessities should be a few hundred I'm guessing.

Will keep up with the pics!

Thanks!

Just wanted to share this picture that I took a while ago, when I was pulling the dash harness out...in this picture you can see the alarm module that was installed at the bottom center of the pic.

Fight the good fight. I hate to see any go down, but if it is as an organ donor, that is the most noble fate. Human and Porsche......

I really really hate to see the red car go down...but if you look below at the picture of the damage on the red 924S you will see why it doesn't have a bright future.

Out there thought, but I wonder how unrealistic it would be to mount a TV on the windshield and build sort of a driving simulator out of that shell

I say jack it up and put monster truck tires on it and exhaust tips out the top and a massive turbo that can suck birds out the air

lol nice, for the simulator just put someone in the car with a TV that has a camera located on the front bumper. Make it so all they can see is the TV and what the camera is displaying and push them down a hill.. they'll all be excited at out great the graphics are and the simulated movement.. at least till the brakes don't work and a tree jumps out of no where in front of them lol. Let me know when you ready to trade that LT1 944 for a 951
