There was this website where you could search for any type of media, including porsche commercials. Forgot what it is tho. I'm sure someone on this board will know.
That was www.adcritic.com, but looks like they went under with the rest of the dot.coms...

Great Ad...Porsche has always had amazing ads...HOWEVER, was it really one of the 4th fatsest production cars. Testarossa, F40, Lambo, wasn't the 911 faster? How 'bout the 959? 928? Just asking

If I can remember correctly, in 1986 the Porsche 944 Turbo was the fastest production car in the states.
But I think that this was only because the 911 turbo was absent from the line-up that year. Please correct me if I am mistaken.
Thanks,
Dan

P.S.
I never thought that this thred would become so long when I first posted the ad!

Great commercial!!

I've been collecting pics of all those porsche tech magazine ads. You know...the ones that are numbered. I'm missing ads #14, 18, and 25. Does anyone know I might be able to find these.

Tom L., for original Porsche dealer posters, literature, videos, promo stuff, I use Walter Miller's autolit.com. Some stuff is pricey, but I haven't found a better source for fun shopping-or to suggest when people ask me for birthday, holiday gift ideas. I just received last week a dealer intro 968 video taped at Weissach. Just ask the running length of the video, mine was about 5 minutes long, and 45 bucks . . .

hi all,
I was trying to think what were the "other three" in the 89 lunch ad:

f40
testarossa
countach 5000S

any others?

I know that this was the fastest porsche in its day in the US, 959 not a US model.

I'm no expert on Hendrix, but I think that's a German on a fiddle, starting out on Purple Haze, and segueing (sp? is there even such a word? ) into Foxy Lady about 21 or 22 sec into the sound track.

Or maybe I'm just be having a brain fart here...

Jim, what's that smell???

I think it's a swede on a violin, or is it a yugo on a moog? But I agree with the rest of what you say Jim.

Lets call it a draw, and all agree it is Hendrix selling porsches, which all must agree is better than Led Zep selling Caddys or Aerosmith selling Dodges.

No, it's 'Purple Haze' only. The introductory riff breaks into a bridge that's very much like 'Foxy Lady', but isn't.

I have to say, I almost like the violin/cello version better than the original, but that may be only because I've listened to the original about 73,000 times and got a little burned out on it.

Excuse me, while I kiss the sky...
