Question ot: bracket steel?

am doing my own supercharger installation and wanted to know what steel are engine brackets are stamped from? now i know that the brackets we have on our cars are cast alloy. since i'm fabricating my own i would like to know this type of steel that the other manufactures use ie.. ford chevy dodge you know. i know i probably wont be able to bend this stuff but if i could get a base material to be heat treated that would be the same hardness and stiffness. thanks
