Cranks but wont start
My '86 951 has had recurring problems when starting. The starter is fine; the engine always turns over. The car will start every time cold, it only has problems when the car has been off ~30 minutes to 2 hours. It will always eventually start if you crank it a bit until the temp gauge gets back to the true reading, wait 5-10 minutes, then try again. Not once has it not started with a little persistence.
First, a bunch of intake manifold hoses were replaced. This cured it for about two months. Then the fuse panel was replaced, as a lot of fuses were loose. This fixed it for about a week. The engine caught on the first turn for a few days after the fusepanel, as opposed to the 2nd or 3rd like it normally does. Now the starting problem is back again, and again the engine wont catch until the 2nd or 3rd when it starts normally. What gives?

Faulty fuel pressure regulator, if the pressure is too high the DME cannot opent he injectors, this will be voltage dependant so that may explain why other things have solved it for a short while.
