What is that thing next to the battery in the battery box? It's round and I can't make out it's function. I drive an 88 BTW. I don't think it's the blower motor, I noticed it when I decided to detail the engine bay and clean out my Battery box. I also found a stray line there which terminated in mid air, It had a rubber elbow tube fitting and I traced it into the motor bay, it T'd off and one of the branches attached to the motor.

Bob, Car's are like women, you let anything go unresolved and it'll blow up on you later.

From this picture, pick out which you are wondering about.

If the big black thing next to the battery, that's an external vacuum reservoir for the brake vacuum circuit. The rest is all related to the climate control.
